Defence Capabilities
Powerbox has been designing power supplies for defence applications for more than 20 years and have gained great knowledge and experience. Given this experience, combined with a management strategy focusing on this market area and being able to offer “commercial off the shelf” (COTS) solutions, value added (VA) and custom designs gives the customer a choice of direction, not being limited to just one path. Powerbox design “in house”, combined with manufacturing partners with full understanding for the needs and documentation of defence market
Solutions
From a few watts to systems of many kilowatts, with optional N+1 / N+n, redundancy and line replaceable units (LRU) for easy field servicing. We understand power in four quadrants (AC-AC, DC-DC, AC-DC and DC-AC), with solutions operating from DC through regular AC input frequencies of 47-63Hz and including frequencies up to 880Hz for Airbus standards. We have solutions with efficiencies over 96%
Standards
Key to success in the defense field, is a deep knowledge of the appropriate standards, typically DEFSTAN 59-41 for conducted emissions, MILSTD 461 & MILSTD 462, DEFSTAN 61-5, MILSTD 704, MILSTD 1275, the airline standard DO 160 and MILSTD 810 for shock and vibration, plus many other not listed here.
Flexible approach
One size, single technology approach does not fit all needs - Powerbox has become the first choice for many leading defence contractors with our flexible approach offering COTS, VA and custom solutions, one leading contractor said “at last, someone has brought a breath of fresh air to this industry offering a range of solutions”.
Cost effective
Our new thinking leads to more cost effective solutions, an approach that has left many competitors scratching there heads, we have broken the mould of “old style & old thinking” from the established military houses, who have not adapted to the modern needs of the defence industry today. Our flexible NRE plans, often drastically reduce the excessive over charging of in the past of develop & design charges.
Faster
Time to market is key in the commercial world, but this is not also true for the defence market, because we can offer COTS solutions all the way through VA and on to custom, we can deliver working prototypes faster than previously envisaged.
Customer base
We are working with most of the leading players in the defence market, having gain a reputation for quality and cost correct solutions.
Design & Manufacture
Design and manufacture takes place within our European design centres, a requirement sought by our customers. The development centre and factory locations are chosen through consideration of each product characteristics and the needs of the customer, thus assuring quality and a cost effective solutions for customers. We offer 100% traceability from purchasing of material to customer finished goods
Logistics
The company has the ability and capacity to customize logistics in order to meet our customer’s demands. This could cover all types of supply structures from traditional fixed order and delivery, to schedule agreements and vendor managed inventory services. Our regional service centers offer a wide selection of after-sales service, such as spare parts handling, repair and application support.
